Taos Mountain Sky

Taos Mountain Sky

A quote from the Sam Peckinpah movie 'Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid' has remained with me since I first heard it in the early seventies while I watched the film in a smoke filled cinema in Yorkshire, England.

Lew Wallace, Governor of the New Mexico Territory, 1878-1881 (played by Jason Robards) greets Pat Garrett (played by James Coburn), "I do hope you enjoy these rainy New Mexican evenings, they have a fabulous melancholy to them. They bring us closer to some greater design, ... at least I hope so!" (the sound of thunder is heard rolling overhead as the scene moves on)

I'm inclined to agree when I'm watching skies like this.

Governor Lew Wallace went on to write Ben Hur in 1880
